Julien Altaber is putting together cuvees of pure Burgundy magic. Driven wines that express precise fruit underneath a clean and fresh personality. Without family ties in Burgundy, Julien has been piecing together his winery since 2007, sourcing beautiful and healthy fruit to work with and in a natural manner. His day job is with the much loved Dominique Derain' at his small, 5 hectare operation in Saint Aubin. Julien is also in Saint Aubin, the southern part of the Cote de Beaune, a neighbour of Montrachet, between Chassagne and Puligny in the heartland of the great white Burgundy. His wines are all about acid, minerality, and precision in fruit. The whites rinse over your palate in a way that screams of place. The reds have a powerful raspberry, strawberry, alluring fruitiness that assures it will be drained all to quickly. There is, quite frankly, never enough of these wines to go around.
